PhD entry in September 2017 (School of Classics, University of St Andrews)

The School of Classics at the University of St Andrews is encouraging applications for PhD entry in September 2017 under the following schemes:

1. (For UK/EU residents only) Studentships awarded by the Graduate Training Programme of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH)

The SGSAH (http://www.sgsah.ac.uk/) is run by a consortium of eight Scottish universities and funds around 55 studentships per annum.
Successful applicants will benefit from fees, stipend (UK residents only) and significant additional flexible funding to shape their doctoral training to meet their individual needs.

The final deadline for applications under this scheme is FRIDAY 6 JANUARY 2017, but candidates are encouraged to contact potential supervisors in November or December to leave time to refine the application to the SGSAH.

2. (For UK, EU and Overseas students) Scholarships awarded by the School of Classics from its own endowment funds. We expect to make several awards for 2017 entry. The procedure for applications is at http://www.standrews.ac.uk/classics/prospective/pg/apply/.

All applications received by FRIDAY 6 JANUARY 2017 will be considered for this source of scholarship funding, though we may also make later rounds of selection.

We invite potential applicants to consult individual members of staff about their proposed research topics in the first instance: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/classics/staff/
